It has been an awesome four months in the TIIDELab fellowship, the journey is gradually coming to an end and I have been reflecting a lot, how much have I learned? how much have I allowed the training? both the technical training and the professional development training, how much have I grown in these past four months?
Indeed it has been a bumpy smooth ride but it has been worth my time, I have come to an understanding that nothing good indeed comes easy, TIIDELab has shown me the power of dedication, the power of hard work, the power of consistency, the power of believing in yourself, the power of not giving up.
I have been saying I reflected a lot, and this article would show a lot of how much I have reflected but the end of all my reflection drives back to gratitude, I am glad I had this opportunity, and I am so glad I decided to apply for the fellowship and I am grateful that I got chosen among the lucky few who get the chance to be trained in the institution.
So, let me quickly take you through what happened in the fourth month of the fellowship.
Frontend Classes Begins
In the past month, we were finally divided into our various stacks, I chose the frontend stack, so I am currently in the frontend development stack class and UncleBigbay is in charge of training.
I have always known about UncleBigbay's method of teaching since pre-fellowship, so I was super excited when I heard he would be in charge of the frontend development classes.
UncleBigbay classes have such a strong effect on me, it is how intentional he is in teaching us, the passion he has for teaching, it just rubs so well on me. Listening to him teach us for the past few weeks has increased my passion for tech indeed seeing also he is passionate about tech.
Introduction to React
This is my first time coming in contact with the javascript framework called React, I was a bit scared and sceptical about how well I would work with this framework but UncleBigbay did a great job in teaching us.
He allowed us to ask any question we wanted and he did not bother whether they were silly or not, he gave us time to make sure we truly understood and I am super grateful for that.
In React, I learnt the basics, I learnt how to build components (The functional and the Class Components) and how to insert prototypes into them.
In one word React has been good to me😁
Presentation On Node Modules
I presented Node modules and functions to the programming community before we were distributed into our various stacks which are the Frontend, Backend and Mobile development Stacks.
Personal Project
Mr Shams asked us to build a personal project and I decided to build an expense-tracking web app.
I decided to build this particular project because it was something I was quite passionate about, there was a time in my life when I needed to track my expenses because I was over-spending and tracking my expenses helped me curb the bad habit of spending unnecessarily.
I did that manually but now that I could digitalize it, it was super fun for me to build this particular project. You can check it out here expensyy. vercel.app
Sixth Sprint Presentation
For our product (INsure), I belong to a team of one of the best people in the fellowship(Euvola) and we are currently building an Insurance Sales management tool that tracks agent leads mainly and has other awesome functions for agents.
We presented for the 6th sprint presentation presenting our product with the full javascript functionality which in turn we would be converting to React in the next sprint.
Lagos Brownbag Meeting At Clane
We went to Clane, a fintech company at Victoria Island, Lagos. We got the opportunity to meet with developers already in the industry and we got a lot of industry-standard advice on the products we pitched which are INsure and BitMedics.
In all, it was an awesome experience at Clane.
Lagos meeting
As Usual, we are meant to meet for a physical meeting at Lagos. Also, we went through the normal professional development class which was highly inspiring and impactful as well.
I was chosen as a lion in the Lagos chapter to judge the people who would pitch their products to us.
We were to mimic the popular reality series called The Lion's Den on YouTube and whoever wins the Lion's Over would become the next head of the house.

I am super grateful to Mr Shams for his unrelenting desire to see all of us win, I hope we make you proud, I am also grateful to my two mentors, Mr Ige Adetokunbo and Mr Godswill, their guidance has been heavenly and I mean this truly.
My special appreciation also goes to the Councils of Elders of the TIIDELab organisation, and Mr Kadir Salami, the founder of this great Institution and lastly my gratitude goes to ITF and NECA for their support to make the Nigerian youth grow.
